Hack-SMC Apps Challenge Finale on September 21

On May 21, 2016, the County of San Mateo hosted its second annual community hackathon, Hack-SMC. Developers, engineers, entrepreneurs, students, techies, activists, designers and citizens of San Mateo County participated in an all-day competition to use open data and technology to create web and mobile apps that improve our community.

Now it's time to come and see the five finalists from Hack-SMC present their finished applications and compete for the $5,000 Grand Prize! Those top teams are:

  • Big Thanks
  • Foxter
  • Jobs4SMCYouth
  • SMC-Surplus

Each of the five teams competing has already won $1,500 and has had the opportunity to work with County departments over the summer to ensure their apps meet the right needs.

Doors will open at 5:45pm, and the event will start with some light refreshments before kicking off at 6:15pm. Following the award ceremony, there will be a brief dessert reception.
